About This Workshop
Most recent estimates from a variety of research, surveys, and studies estimate more than half of American’s consider themselves “kinky” and that the United States has the largest concentration of people who identify as kinky or participate in some aspect of BDSM in the world.  Therapists are increasingly seeing kinky folks and people who engage in some aspect of BDSM, but outside of certified and trained sex therapists, many practitioners lack awareness and knowledge about the kinky population which leaves this population vulnerable to having difficulty finding kink-aware, kink-friendly, and kink-knowledgeable practitioners.  This introductory workshop will help provide the foundation for clinicians in becoming kink-aware and kink-friendly to clients who identify as kinky and/or part of the BDSM community.  Specific consideration to domestic violence and BDSM will be presented on.
